Andre Richardson, PhD

Toxicologist

Dr. Andre Richardson is a toxicologist for CTEH, LLC. His background focuses on principles pertaining to cardiovascular toxicology, environmental toxicology, as well as tobacco regulatory science research. Dr. Richardson earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Louisville (UofL) in June 2022, his Master’s degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from UofL in May 2020, and his Bachelor’s degrees in Cellular Toxicology and Biology from Nazareth College of Rochester in May 2016.

During his dissertation, Dr. Richardson focused on the thrombogenic (blood coagulation) effects associated with exposure to environmental toxicants, smoking conventional cigarettes, and vaping electronic cigarettes. His work evaluated how environmental toxicants and cigarette aerosol-derived constituents such as acrolein, crotonaldehyde, acetaldehyde, formaldehyde, as well as flavorant additives like cinnamaldehyde (cinnamon) and menthol (mint) may induce blood clots as biomarkers of cardiovascular harm.

In addition to his graduate school research, Dr. Richardson also served on the board of directors of the West Jefferson County Community Task Force in Louisville, Kentucky where the goal is to address environmental concerns and issues of the community in West Louisville.
